A classic black suit should be in the closet of every business woman or woman who works in a professional office environment. When I don't know what to wear to work, or don't want to think about it, my black suit is my go to. This one is one the verge of needing to be replaced. It has seen a lot of wear. I've posted many outfits with it, but also refrained from posting it many times. Sometimes it seems too boring. But sometimes it's  good to have a reminder that it's okay to dress in classics.

I picked this blouse up on a whim a few months ago, but hey, it's stripes! And it adds a new twist to my black suit. I can't find it online now, but I've linked up some options.

Leopard print for work

I bought this leopard print  top back during the summer. I bought it on sale and with coupons and only paid around $6 for it.

Business casual

For just a couple of days each year, we get to dress business casual on my job as opposed to business attire. That means these sandals would not be allowed at the office, but are allowed at training or a conference. I eagerly took the opportunity to wear these wide leg pants again with a tee, and threw on a blazer to keep it on the business side (and to keep warm in those cold conference rooms.)

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Favorite necklace

This necklace is one of my favorites. It's a Stella and Dot piece that can be worn 5 ways in various lengths and by attaching or detaching the three parts. I've managed to wear this piece with office attire and casual wear. It's versatility makes it one of my favorites.

I love the soft colors of this outfit polished off with a black blazer for the office. It can be tricky to dress in a conservative environment when you like to be different like me. I push the envelope here and there in small ways.

Do you ever feel like you struggle to come up with new outfits? I sure do. And for some reason, Spring always seems to be the biggest challenge. I added a few new pieces last spring, but I feel like I can't possibly come up with new ways to wear them. I did a spring capsule wardrobe last year and found out that a capsule can get really boring. And I still struggled with outfits.  Maybe I'm limiting my choices because I've gained a few pounds this year and I feel like some of my pencil skirts and pants aren't the best fit right now. I don't know. Anyway, this top was one of last year's purchases- seen here just a few days shy of a year ago. I like it with the contrast of grey and the pops of yellow here.

I thrifted this top last year and just got around to wearing it (oops). I need to have a top that tucks in most days, so it hasn't been practical for work. I was determined to wear it, so I did. Most of it's detail and appeal is hidden by the blazer (thus the post title), but it's work appropriate this way. But it's also going to be a fun casual piece. When I pulled it out of the closet, it was screaming "boho" "pair me with some flare jeans." I plan to do that in the future. For now I paired it with the blazer and trousers.

I chose the cropped blazer to go with the style of this top. You always see the "must have" closet recommendations and sometimes a black blazer is one of them. I'm convinced you really need three black blazers, depending on the look you are going for and the style of the piece you are pairing it with. I have the cropped blazer, a boyfriend blazer, and the standard corporate one.

I usually don't pull these pants out until later in the season because they are a heavy winter weight, but I'm so tired of rotating through the usual black, grey, and navy pants I wear to work. The weather has cooled off enough that I decided I could get away with wearing them now. They aren't tweed, but they have that look and I'm becoming a little obsessed with tweed for fall and winter.

Worn July 22, 2015

Yesterday I showed you an outfit worn on the same date as this one. I wore the other one out that evening and this outfit to work. I've been trying to spice up work attire without going overboard and have decided that a fun accessory like this pink belt is the trick.  A fun print like snakeskin also helps.
