Late summer vacation style

Boatneck Top- Forever21 - option  option

I rarely get out of my pajamas or exercise clothes on weekends or holidays if I don't have to go somewhere. Monday was the exception. I decided to throw this on after my run and shower. No makeup, other than trying out a sample of Urban Decay matte stark naked lipstick I had lying around.

This is an outfit I wear repeatedly on our fall or early summer vacations, but it's never made the blog, so I decided to take some shots and share it. It's comfy but sporty. The hat keeps the sun from baking my head and the shoes are comfy. If you live a cooler climate, you could swap the shorts for joggers or cargo pants. You could pair this with olive pants instead of khaki. I love olive and red. Jewelry is minimal- just a long tassel necklace. I find that long necklaces are more tolerable in the heat vs shorter ones that hang closer to my neck.

Baseball tee

Tee- Forever 21     option  option  option

bracelets- Forever 21, gift

This baseball tee has been in my dresser drawer for over a year- unworn. Oops. I threw it on Sunday to go run some errands. But I couldn't just wear jeans and a tee, so I threw on my leopard sneakers and some fancy earrings.

Do you have any unworn pieces in your wardrobe that have been there for a significant amount of time? Care to shyly raise your hand?

Just kickin it

What's more comfortable for running errands on a Sunday afternoon that boyfriend jeans and a cozy lightweight  sweater?  Maybe your pajamas or sweats or workout clothes, but folks, that's not an outfit. It really bugs me to see women in the grocery store in work out clothes when they obviously haven't worked out in a couple of years and they are not on their way to or from the gym. Regardless of your size, there are better ways to dress yourself.  Rant over.

I almost returned this sweater because it's slightly oversized with a curved hem and I really need one that's more professional so I can wear it to work and get more wear out of it. But this one was so comfy, I decided to keep it.

Summer style

Happy Friday! I'm so glad to have a day off work. I'm recapping a few more Summer Style Challenge outfits today.

Day 9 called for a graphic tee and boyfriend shorts with sneakers.  I don't own lace up sneakers and find tees and denim a little boring without some accessories, so I added my leopard slip on sneakers and fedora with leopard band.  I have a few hats now, and this one is my favorite. It was a $7 clearance purchase for our camping trip last fall, and I love it. It has a very narrow brim and doesn't get in the way. This is also one of my favorite graphic tees. It says "All I really need today are a little coffee and a whole lot of Jesus."

Day 10 called for a chambray top, flowy tank, white shorts, and metallic sandals. It may have been a lace shorts day, but I don't own lace shorts and haven't found an age appropriate length that I care for. This is one of my least favorite outfits of the challenge and I probably would never wear this. I think it would be cuter with shorter shorts, but it just doesn't work for me overall.

Day 12 was lace top with boyfriend shorts + metallic sandals + stud earrings. (I skipped 11- maxi dress + metallic sandals + floppy hat.) The challenge item was a white lace top and I don't own one of those either, but I have this taupe color lace top. I've worn this top with a skirt before and have other ideas for it, but would not have thought of the boyfriend shorts without the challenge prompt. I really liked this outfit.

Navy and brown/ business to casual

Blazer- Limited  option
sweater- thrifted  option
pants- Loft  option
shoes old  option  option
sneakers (bottom) JCPenney  option  option  option

I've always thought the right shades of navy and brown go together well, so this was an easy outfit to pull together. No pinterest inspiration needed. I just worked off the colors of these plaid pants. These were an impulse spurge last fall. I really didn't need more pants, but they have been a hard working addition. I have a couple of more outfit ideas in mind for them. To challenge myself more, I decided to see if I could dress them down. I typically would only reach for these for a day at the office, but one day I'll retire with a closet full of business attire so maybe I should start thinking more often about whether or not an item can work outside the office. I tossed the blazer and changed the shoes to leopard sneakers, and yes...works as casual for me.
