I walked out of our bedroom ready for church Sunday morning wearing this and the hubby says "I just learned what an empire waist is- now I'm a women's fashion expert." Oh really? He went on to explain that the show on TV was showing that an empire waist would lengthen and make a petite person appear taller. He even explained what an empire waist was and where it fell on the garment. I said, you mean like this dress?

My fear with these types of dresses on my curvy figure is that is makes me look pregnant. Not a look I want. You see I noted above this dress was a gift. I would not have bought it for myself. Regardless of looks, I managed to be comfortable and stay warm on yet another cold, grey and dreary day.

I consider a buffalo plaid a must have for fall/winter. It's also a piece that will be a classic and stick around. Those are the reasons I promptly went to Old Navy and purchased myself a brand new plaid shirt this week, (using rewards so I didn't pay much). I received one last Christmas as a gift and wore it a couple of times last winter, but the fit was not quite right. I tried to wear it again last weekend and decided that an ill fitting shirt would not do. The old one will get posted in my Poshmark closet.

This one will get worn regularly if the temps will stay down. After a chilly morning, Tuesday afternoon was 80 degrees, so most of the day this shirt was worn tied around my waist as shown in the last pick.

Do you have a favorite item that you would run out and replace right away?

Are you gearing up for holiday shopping? If you're like me and do a lot of it online, don't forget to sign up at ebates so you get cash back from your shopping. I've made a little over $25 in a short time. That's not huge, but I'll take it. Check them out here.

The utility jacket- a fashion bloggers must have. I wanted one but given that it does not really get cold enough to get much wear from jackets here, I would not buy one until I found this one for $25. So I bought it and waited for cold weather. We finally had that last week but it is supposed to be 80 again Saturday. I guess I better hurry up and wear my jacket again.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and got lots of deals on Black Friday. I've been busy with online shopping and decorating. I took a little break from the blog to tend to those things. Oh boy- December gets so busy!
