So whether you're going to a back yard barbeque, day of play in the sun, or dinner out, here are three outfits to inspire your looks.

Work to Play- One piece two ways

I did a post a while back on how to wear two pieces two ways- work and play.    I decided to do a similar post with these outfits. Both outfits feature the same striped sailor sweater. This sweater works well for work with a pencil skirt and blazer. (I've also worn it HERE with plaid pants and a blazer.)

Weekend sale picks

Doesn't it seem like there is always a sale? Usually there is, but there is an awesome sale at JCrew Factory this weekend, 50% off! Now is a great time to get a long crystal pendant. It's perfect with your work attire and I wear mine all the time.

I've rounded up my picks from the sales there, and from Loft, Ann Taylor (40% off tops code TOPS40) and Old Navy- the Harper pant is $25! I threw in a couple of markdowns from Zappos too.

Stripes

Blouse- Nordstrom  option  option
pants- JCPenney
shoes- Ann Klein/ Belks (old)  option

This is a very simple outfit but simple is all you need with this much color. I  had a navy blazer with this for a work ceremony that morning but we had a more casual work event that afternoon, so the blazer came off and the sleeves got rolled. I left the blazer off for photos because I really wanted to show off this shirt. I purchased it during the Nsale but had to wait for the temps to drop to wear it because its a little heavier material. (It's sold out now. My pants are on clearance for less than $20!)

Speaking of Nordstrom, have you shopped the fall sale yet? Check out my picks here.

Apologies in advance

Shirt- Nordstrom
skirt- Loft (old)    option      option
shoes- Target  option  option
bracelet- Belk  option  option
necklace- Belk  option  option

I was so tired when I took these pictures and it really shows. Also this hair is why I got a cut (yet to be revealed). It's all over the place. #windblown So apologies in advance. I've also been wearing these sandals on repeat a lot. #sorrynotsorry They are favorites.

Aside from the tired expressions and messy hair, this has the potential to be a very cute outfit. It was Pinterest inspired. Do you pair stripes and camo?

Replacement

Blazer- Calvin Klein via Belk  option  option     option
striped sweater- Forever21 option  option  option
skirt- JCPenney  option  option  option
earrings- Target  option   option

This white linen blazer is the replacement for my other white blazer. You may remember me talking about looking for a replacement as the other one was getting a little worn and hard to clean. I still have it and it has a few wears left, but I'm loving this lighter weight linen version for our hot summers.

This outfit was one I've had the inspiration for pinned for two or three years now and finally got around to wearing it. What's not to love about white, pink and navy?

I love these Comfort Plus Payless pumps. Try them out with 15% off through Aug. 8 with code ZZSHOP.

Ya'll, I'll admit I've had a difficult time getting into the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Everyone says it's one of the best ones ever, but I've been seeing everyone's picks and posts and I've not been overly impressed.  It's just that it's so hot here, and we may be wearing shorts into October, it's hard for me to even fathom that I need anything for fall.

Are you tired of seeing the same ol' thing over and over? I am. Just sayin. I know there are some popular items we all like, but I get tired of seeing them. But I will admit that the more I see the posts and the more I search the website, the more things grow on me. So I've been searching for some things that can be worn early fall in the South and layered later in the winter. I've also tried to pick some things that haven't been posted over and over, and I kept it under $100. I don't know about your, but some things just aren't in my budget, even on sale.

I will also be sharing a business professional set of picks later, so make sure you are following me so you won't miss it. There truly are lots of great items out there and it's hard to stick them all in one post.

It's a great time to stock up on some classics and basics or dip your toes into a trend. The skinny neck scarf is coming onto the scene, so now might be a good time to give this trend a try. They have one in a floral print too. If you need boots, buy them now. I bought my cognac riding boots last year, so I don't need any this year. I've got the boots covered with a cognac pair, black pair, and a couple of heeled pairs for work. That's another reason I can't get into the sale- I've got most of my basics covered.

We are in the early access phase so you need a Nordstrom debit or credit card to shop. Sign up here.

Stripes and knots

Top- Nordstrom   option  option
shorts- TJMaxx (old)  option  longer length option  option
shoes- Old Navy  option  option
bracelets- handmade (by me)   option  option  option

Have you blown your budget yet at the Nordstrom sale? I'm still looking and debating about whether or not to sign up for the debit card to go ahead and shop. I've got my eye on some bracelets. Last year I bought a couple of these tops. They easily switch from business to casual wear.

Speaking of bracelets, I made these on a whim one Friday night and I really didn't think I'd wear them much, but I've worn them several times now. Turns out these earthy tones coordinate with more in my wardrobe than I thought they would. While I had my beads and supplies out, I made this charm wrap bracelet.

I bought this tee in two colors. (Psst... it's still on sale.)  You have already seen the green and blue one. Grey is a favorite and I love grey with red, I love stripes, so what's not to love about grey stripes with red?

I hope you have a spectacular weekend! One more week and it will by my birthday weekend.

Currently I'm drinking... water, coffee, unsweet tea. Yes, I'm from the south and grew up on sweet tea, but I cut out all sweetened drinks about three years ago. I drink my coffee black, no sugar. How do you like your coffee and tea?
