The hubby and I took a weekend getaway trip over Memorial Day weekend and this is what I wore for the first day of travel and sightseeing. I picked up this top at one of our local thrift stores and couldn't be happier with it. I love the pattern of colors and it's cool and comfortable.

Just a very casual outfit for errands on a Saturday. I tried to punch it up with some bright accessories.

Totally off topic- my otherwise fierce courageous beautiful shephard is afraid of thunder and lightning. It has stormed for the last two nights and she has barked, whined, and yelped for hours during the night. I'm so sleepy right now I can barely type. Any advice?

Multi color maxi skirt- three ways

Worn July 19, 2014

I had not worn this skirt all year until Saturday a week ago. I  wore it to run some errands and visit some folks at the hospital. In fact, I have not worn a maxi skirt all year. I'm not believing that as I love to wear them when it's hot. You know you have too many clothes when you have things that aren't getting worn.

Here are two other ways I've worn the skirt. I'll probably never wear it the first way again, but I like the second look. I'm also considering wearing it with a small stripe- what do you think? Can this crazy pattern handle a striped top?

Do you like handmade accessories? I've been adding some things back to my etsy shop.  Check out the earrings bracelet, and brooches I have listed.

Ready

This is another outfit I wore during the youth trip I chaperoned last week. While the boys stayed in a campground, the ladies roughed it at a hotel. When I arrived at the boys camp in this outfit that morning with my camera in hand for a day of touring Stone Mountain, one of the boys said, "Look, Miss Fonda has her photographer clothes on." LOL I guess bermuda shorts and a camp shirt are a little "touristy".

Aztec take two

Shirt- Target option option
pants- Macys option
shoes- Payless option option
necklace- Belk's
Worn June 11, 2014

I wore this outfit on travel day of my trip with the church youth group. I got tons of compliments from the kids, boys and girls, on these pants. They were a hit. And they are super comfortable for wearing on a long ride.

I wore the pants before with my sneakers, but this time I went with sandals. I wish these sandals came in a multitude of colors too- I'd buy every one. I've worn them on two vacations trips now and done tons of walking in them- no blisters, no aching feet. They are from the Payless comfort plus line and hold up to their name.

What's your favorite travel attire?

This is a bit different than what you normally see from me. I wore this outfit on a weekend getaway during which we went to a location just to take pictures and practice up on our photography skills. The hubby took these photos. People photos are not his strongest point and he is not going to spend a lot of time taking "outfit" photos, so I take what I can get. He was more interested in the windows on the building and the texture of the tree. Excuse me, this isn't about a tree. I love him anyway.

Comfy

Dress- Target; shirt- Gap
shoes- Payless
Worn Sept. 2, 2013

I will probably never wear this dress like this again after looking at these pictures, but this sure was a cool and comfy outfit. I normally wear this dress with a cardigan over it (like here) and without it, it looks too much like a maternity dress.

I saw a girl in Lowes with a cute knit dress and colored Keds on and it made me think of putting this together. Cute idea, but not a flattering look for me.

Belted or not?

 Jacket- Coldwater Creek
tank/skirt- Old Navy
sandals- Walmart
Worn Aug. 9, 2013

Most of these pieces are fairly old, but I've only worn the jacket once. I think my problem with it is that it needs to be taken in a bit. But I decided to wear it and put it out to you to decide whether or not to even go to that trouble. I tried belting it to take it in a bit, but ultimately wore it unbelted because I was going shopping this date and didn't want to take the belt on and off trying on clothes. If the jacket is a keeper, I have another outfit in mind for it.

White denim jacket

Dress/jacket/wedges- Old Navy
worn July 13, 2013

I just realized I could be an ad for Old Navy. That was totally not intended and I didn't realize until I typed out the list above that every.single.item. is Old Navy.

So, tell me- can you wear a white denim jacket in the fall/winter? Labor Day is fast approaching and I have only worn this once. I purchased it earlier in the summer because it can be pretty cool in some of the places we go out to in the evenings so I thought I'd get a lot of wear, and well, I haven't. We just haven't been out as much this summer. So, can I wear this year round?

Multi color maxi

skirt- Belk's; tank- JCPenney;
cardi/jewelry- Sear's; sandals- Target
Worn April 28, 2013

I love maxi skirts in the summer and I added this multi color one to my collection this spring. I completed the outfit by hitting each of our tiny mall's box department stores. Sometimes you've just got to work what's available.

Bangs and bobby pins

Top- Old Navy (Refashioned by me); shorts- Target
belt- thrifted;  shoes- Target
Worn August 10, 2012 (evening)

We went to a cookout at a friend's house and I wore this outfit. Looking back, I'll be finding a different belt to wear with it, and a different purple tshirt. I'v decided that Old Navy tshirts are not flattering on me - too thin, too shapeless, too long and they bunch and roll around the middle- Sorry Old Navy. I do have some tshirts that I like and I've discovered that the key is that it has a little spandex vs 100% cotton. At least I know what I'm shopping for now.

And as for the title of my post, my bangs were in need of a trim so I started pinning them to the side with a barrette or bobby pin.

Denim and red

shirt/ tank-??; shorts, shoes- TJMaxx; belt- thrifted
Worn- July 21, 2012

A true summer outfit. I bought these shorts thinking of a black gingham shirt, but I ended up wearing them with this old denim shirt. So glad I got to revive this shirt.

Nothing special

tshirt- Wal-mart; shorts- ??
Brooch- No Plain T's
shoes- Payless
Worn: July 7, 2012

Nothing special about this outfit- it's a tshirt and shorts. But, it's so much cuter with the No Plain T's felt brooch. I have loved this accessory since the day it arrived. It's so easy to dress up a shirt or cardigan. Then "nothing special" becomes "not so plain."

Inspired again

The outfit above was another People Style Watch outfit featured in their "look for less" series. I immediately went on a mad hunt for the pieces. I found their look for less shirt at Amazon, a similar tuxedo blazer at Charlotte Russe, and cobalt capris at TJMaxx.  Here's my version of the look:

You've seen the shirt HERE before and the capris HERE.

Cobalt and cork

Blouse, capris- TJMaxx
shoes- Ross
necklace- Target
Worn: May 4, 2012 (evening)

I had no idea Nine West made clothes ( I was familiar with shoes and purses), but I found these capris by Nine West at TJMaxx. And I love this cobalt color. It was popular in the winter and is still going for summer.
