It took me long enough to get on board with the graphic tees but I'm here! I kept missing the ones I wanted on sale because they would sell out but I was able to snag a couple over the Labor Day weekend sales. It was killing me to wait until my 30x30 was over to wear them. And I love this outfit so much, I may just repeat this formula over and over until winter. Blazer+graphic tee+jeans+booties+statement necklace (if you want to dress it up) It's perfect for our warm fall weather, but still looks seasonally appropriate with the booties. And let me tell you how much I love these Loft jeans- most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. They stretch but still hug your body without ever getting baggy or saggy. LOVE them!

Faking fall

How do you fake fall? Light layers and color. I had originally planned to just wear the blouse and pants (more pieces from a would have been fall capsule) but I saw a cardigan with a bow top online and was inspired to add my cardigan. The cardigan was not going to be part of the capsule, so I'm glad at this point that I have not limited myself. It was cool enough last week to tolerate the cardigan.

An easy formula

An easy formula for getting out the door quickly and still looking polished for work is a sweater+pencil skirt+statement necklace+heels. A nice soft sweater that fits works best for this formula. Save the slouchy, oversized sweaters for the weekend. This lightweight sweater is perfect for our warm fall weather.

Pop of burgundy

I love the neutral looks we are seeing everywhere this fall. I started out October with a strictly business look in neutrals and added a pop of fall color. I mentioned that I had considered a capsule wardrobe for ninety days but I couldn't narrow down my choices. Had I gone forward with it, these pieces would have been part of it and I'm sure you will be seeing them again. For a long time, I've not utilized the white button up but now I'm being drawn to it over and over again. Maybe it will finally get some use and become that "wardrobe item every woman should have" for me.

Below are ways I wore this suit last fall/winter:

Casual Friday

Cardigan- Old Navy option
shirt- Target option  option
jeans- Loft
shoes- Ann Klein via Belks  similar option
necklace- gift

There's no such thing as casual Friday at my work, but that doesn't mean I can't post a casual outfit on Friday. I put this together to create a fall look that would withstand the continuing summer temps. Since neutrals and grey are popular this year, I went with grey and navy. I'm not sure if I really like the overall results. It looks a little bland to me. There is a secret to wearing neutrals and not looking blah. I'll let you know when I find out. What we can take away from this is a formula that will get you out the door quickly- jeans/pants + tee+cardigan+long necklace+flats. Always works for casual but the cardigan and necklace will make it look like you put in a little effort.

Business stripes

Blouse- old option  option option
pants- old- JCPenney similar
shoes- Belks  similar
necklace- Forever 21 option
worn August 22, 2014

This is an outfit left in my files from August. I didn't get around to posting it before I started the 30x30 remix so I'm sharing it today. There's nothing special about it, except for stripes. I usually think of stripes on casual garments, but I do have a few striped items I can wear as business attire. I was in an outfit rut and lacking total motivation or creativity for outfits during this time frame (hence the 30x30) but Pinterest saved me once again and prompted this pairing.

Shades of grey

Shirt- JCrew- thrifted option option
skirt- Old Navy option  option
booties- Blowfish- TJMaxx options option
necklace- thrifted  option option

Grey is going to be very trendy this fall and that's okay with me. I've always loved grey as a neutral and grey dress pants are a work horse in my work wardrobe. On the casual side, I created this outfit with a skirt that I bought a couple of months back on sale ( I had wished for it since last year) and a grey stripe shirt I found while thrifting. With booties, it was the perfect fall outfit. The tee is a tissue tee so it's not too thick but the sleeves still knock off the early evening chill.

I almost talked myself out of getting the tee. I have a drawer full of long sleeve tees that rarely get worn. But... it was grey- check, stripes- check, JCREW- check and $4. I quickly talked myself back into getting it.
