The pencil skirt

Another simple pairing that didn't take much thought or effort. A blouse+pencil skirt. Add some fun shoes and a necklace. Done. I've been wearing pencil skirts a lot lately because all you really have to do is add a top and you look polished. It makes for a less stressful morning.

And look at those leaves in my pics? They've gotten the message about fall but the thermostat hasn't. It was 80 degrees Tuesday! Come on, mother nature, just chill out. (pun intended)

When camo first came on the fashion scene, I said I would not wear it as a fashion item. Camo was for rednecks and deer hunters in my home town. Well, a sweet deal on a subdued grey camo skirt from Loft change my mind. I happened to be in one of their stores last month and it was on clearance with 40% off that- total= $16. So now I'm wearing camoflauge. Who knows? you may see me in my old green camo tee.

Not my signature

If you are a regular reader, then you probably recognized right away that this is not my signature look. Nonetheless, sometimes it's fun to try a different look. I started out with booties but they just weren't comfortable so I switched to my sneakers. I love these shoes and they have been a go to for "off duty" casual attire lately. Once I went with the sneakers, I decided what the heck, since I've got a sporty thing going on with the stripes and sneaks, I may as well throw on the beanie. I do like to wear a beanie once in a while in the winter, but I'm not so sure it really looks all that good on me. Maybe I'm too old for it. I was going to be outside in the cold night air, so the beanie stayed, regardless of looks. Sometimes function wins over fashion.

Back to work, back to work. Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was not as productive as it should have been, but I made some progress on some chores and did a couple of fun things. And today was easier to face as a Monday because tomorrow is a holiday!

I fell in love with a mustard cardigan a couple of years ago and went to great lengths to find one. It was one of those items that was sold out by the time I decided to purchase one. However, I found one and still love it. Below are three other ways I've worn it.
You might also want to take a peek back at four ways I've worn a purple cardigan.

One of my favorite things about this shirt is the faux leather shoulder tabs. Oh and it's rich fall floral pattern. I paired it with a navy pencil skirt this time. Both pieces happened to be from Target, purchased at separate times.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend.

We had a three day cold spell, but it's back in the 70s now. At least I had a chance to pull out a scarf on Monday and wear it to work. I kept this outfit very neutral with black, white and grey but fun with stripes and dots. I chose flat shoes because I knew it was going to be a busy day.

What are your tricks for staying conservative but still wearing fun things to the office?

Swayed again

Sweater- Gap similar  option

Worn Nov 2, 2014

Remember when I talked last week about being swayed by social media to buy something? It happened to me twice. This skirt from Target has also been in several collages on Pinterest and in many "ways to wear" posts by other bloggers. So the more I saw it, the more I needed it. Yep, swayed again.

Seriously, I happened to see it my local Target and had a 25% off cartwheel. I have five or more tops to wear with it, and a floral print is something I'd like to have more of in my wardrobe, so this was a no-brainer decision. My first way of styling and wearing this skirt is pretty close to one of Audrey's suggested ways. It will be a while before I run out of options from my closet with this one.
